About us

Family-founded.
Locally rooted.

Grandis was started by a family who couldn't find the kind of care they wanted for their own mother — so they built it.

An intergenerational moment — family across generations
Our story

A family that knows.

When our grandmother began needing more help at home than family could provide, we did what most families do: we called agency after agency. We met dozens of caregivers. We watched our grandmother adapt — over and over — to new people walking through her door.

What she needed wasn't more help. What she needed was the same trusted face, week after week. Someone who learned her stories. Someone who knew how she took her tea.

We built Grandis so that no other family has to settle. We hire slowly, train deeply, and match thoughtfully. Every caregiver on our team is someone we'd send to our own grandmother's door.

What we stand for

Five things we refuse to compromise on.

These aren't bullet points on a wall. They're the questions we ask ourselves before every hire, every match, every visit.

  1. i.

    Dignity, always.

Aging is not a problem to be managed. It's a stage of life that deserves the same respect as any other. We address clients by name, not condition.

  2. ii.

    The same trusted face.

Consistency of caregiver is the single biggest predictor of quality of life. We protect it fiercely.

  3. iii.

    Slow hiring, deep training.

We turn away the majority of caregiver applicants. Those who join us complete extensive training before their first shift — and ongoing training every quarter after.

  4. iv.

    Family at the table.

You know your loved one better than we ever will. Your input shapes the care plan from day one and every day after.

  5. v.

    Honest pricing.

One hourly rate. No setup fees, no assessment fees, no surprise charges. Ever.

Who we let through the door

The caregiver you meet is one in ten.

Most families’ biggest worry isn’t what care will be provided. It’s who will provide it. So we hire slowly, and we’re unusually picky.

9/ 10

Of every ten caregivers who apply to Grandis, we say no to nine.

The one we say yes to still has to pass six more steps before they walk into your loved one’s home.

  1. 01

    Application & screening

Every application is read by a human, not filtered by software. We look for real caregiving experience — paid or unpaid — and a written response that shows they understand what this work asks of them.

  2. 02

    Two rounds of interviews

The first interview is character-focused. The second is scenario-based: “What would you do if…” We’re looking for patience under pressure, honest self-awareness, and warmth that can’t be taught.

  3. 03

    Background & reference checks

Live Scan fingerprinting through the California Department of Justice, national criminal background check, DMV report, and calls to three professional references. No exceptions.

  4. 04

    Skills assessment

Hands-on evaluation of transfers, safe mobility assistance, and personal care techniques. A caregiver either demonstrates competence in person, or they don’t start.

  5. 05

Paid training before the first shift

Every new hire completes our onboarding program before meeting a client — including dementia care techniques, fall prevention, infection control, HIPAA, and Grandis’s own standards of care.

  6. 06

    Ongoing supervision & growth

Quarterly training, spot check-ins, and a direct line to a Care Coordinator every day. We invest in caregivers so they can invest in your family.
